Getting started with the basic toss.
At this point, you should have something to use for practicing this trick; if you don't, you can check out information on getting started with pizza acrobatics.
- The grip: Start by holding your dough with both hands with your fingers pointing upwards.
- Get comfortable with this grip. When you're ready, try popping the dough upwards slightly.
- Spin direction: Think about which direction you're comfortable spinning the dough. It should feel like one way is more natural. Moving forward, try to keep practicing both directions. To be comfortable spinning it both ways.
- Hand movement: When the dough is tossed in the air to spin, one hand will move forward and another will move backward.
- The toss: When you're comfortable with the hand movement, push the dough upwards with one hand guiding it more. Make sure the dough is spinning enough to open up, but not too much so it's still controlled.
- Take time to get comfortable with this motion. When you're comfortable with it, it's time for more tricks!
